Developed by geologists with direct input from prospectors, it integrates detailed geological datasets with user-friendly GPS mapping tools, facilitating more efficient exploration and enabling users to identify promising gold-rich zones with greater speed and accuracy.

The application is versatile, supporting various exploration activities such as detector swinging, creek panning, or venturing into remote landscapes. It offers extensive geological intelligence even in offline scenarios, ensuring continuous access to critical data in the field.

Key components that distinguish Detector Maps include:

<li>Current and expired mining leases and claims, with updates issued on a weekly basis</li>

The app features breadcrumb trail tracking with background GPS capabilities, allowing users to log their exact exploration routes even when the app runs in the background or when the device screen is inactive. This functionality aids in avoiding re-exploration of previous ground and documents exploration paths for future reference.

Regarding location permissions, Detector Maps requests “Always Allow” access solely to enable continuous background tracking when a user activates breadcrumb logging. This approach ensures comprehensive logging of the prospecting journey while allowing users to disable background tracking at any time via app or device settings to conserve battery life.

Offline functionality is robust, permitting users to download detailed map tiles and data layers for use without an internet connection. These offline maps support GPS tracking, trail recording, and waypoint navigation regardless of signal availability.

Waypoint marking and field note features permit users to log discoveries such as gold finds, test pits, quartz outcrops, significant targets, historical workings, or campsites. Data can be organized, named, and synchronized across user accounts for seamless management.

Real-time GPS navigation enhances locating your position accurately within leasing boundaries, terrain features, and land claims during prospecting activities.

The coverage extends across:

<li>New Zealand: features goldfield coverage with access to historic mining data, geological layers, and offline maps.</li>

Subscription plans offer access to all regions and are structured as follows:

The subscription grants users full access to maps, layers, offline functionalities, and complete regional coverage. Regarding privacy and data security, location information—including trails and waypoints—is utilized solely for core application functions. Users may delete their accounts at any time through the profile settings by confirming deletion. Full privacy policy details are accessible online.
