The app features breadcrumb trail tracking with background GPS capabilities, allowing users to log their exact exploration routes even when the app runs in the background or when the device screen is inactive. Regarding location permissions, Detector Maps requests “Always Allow” access solely to enable continuous background tracking when a user activates breadcrumb logging. This approach ensures comprehensive logging of the prospecting journey while allowing users to disable background tracking at any time via app or device settings to conserve battery life.

Offline functionality is robust, permitting users to download detailed map tiles and data layers for use without an internet connection. These offline maps support GPS tracking, trail recording, and waypoint navigation regardless of signal availability.

Waypoint marking and field note features permit users to log discoveries such as gold finds, test pits, quartz outcrops, significant targets, historical workings, or campsites. Data can be organized, named, and synchronized across user accounts for seamless management.

Real-time GPS navigation enhances locating your position accurately within leasing boundaries, terrain features, and land claims during prospecting activities.

The coverage extends across:

<li>New Zealand: features goldfield coverage with access to historic mining data, geological layers, and offline maps.</li>

Subscription plans offer access to all regions and are structured as follows:
